COURSE REQUIREMENT: This course is for officers who have attended the Basic Carbine and Carbine Phase II training or a similar course subject to Instructor approval.
 
COURSE OBJECTIVES:    
  • Explain why low light weapon mastery is lifesaving
  • Show the different methods of utilizing handheld lights with a long gun
  • Show the different Aweapon mounts@available for long guns
  • Have student use Ahands on@ training with the various methods
  • Have students use live fire to practice, and perfect, the various techniques
  • Cleaning Class I and Class III malfunctions in low light
  • Hands on practice with Tac loading and Speed loading in low light
  • Practice transition drills to handgun in low light
  • Officers will complete course with 1-on-1 live fire drill
 
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:    
A zeroed AR-15 / M16 Rifle or Carbine; Duty belt and handgun + 3 or more magazines for each
Some way to carry rifle magazines on your person; cleaning kit and cleaning supplies
200 Rounds of factory ammunition (no reloads) + 50 Rounds handgun ammunition (no reloads)
A sling (A Tac sling is recommended, but any sling will work) ;
Safety classes and hearing protections;
Drinking water;
Baseball cap;
Knee and elbow pads are optional

MTU 5’s request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
 
Course enrollment must be made by the agency CEO or designated training officer.  Registration may be made using our on-line course registration link on this website.  All officers enrolled by their department will be assumed to be on duty unless otherwise noted
