This course is the third of four classes that will be taught in November 14, 28, & December 12 and 21. 

Control and Arrest Tactics is a 32 hour course taught at both full and part-time PTI academies.  The following concepts of Control and Arrest Tactics will be taught in the following order:

November 14     
     Use of Force
     Handcuffing
     Searching
     Pressure Points
     Take Downs from Front & Rear

November 28
     Use of Force
     Pressure Points
     Basic Self Defense
     Ground Defense
     Weapon Defense from Ground

December 12
     Use of Force
     Knife Defense
     Gun Retention
     Impact (Stick) Training

December 21
     Use of Force
     Pressure Points
     Extrications from Vehicles
     Review of Defensive Tactics

Officers are encouraged to attend all four classes, however may sign up for individual classes

THIS COURSE MEETS THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED MANDATED TRAINING:  Legal Updates, Use of Force, Constitutional and Proper Use of Law Enforcement Authority, Procedural Justice, and Civil Rights
 

MTU 5’s request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
 
Course enrollment must be made by the agency CEO or designated training officer.  Registration may be made using our on-line course registration link on this website.  All officers enrolled by their department will be assumed to be on duty unless otherwise noted
