Mobile team 5 will offer the State of Illinois mandated certification for narcotic detection on three separate occasions during the fiscal year. Participating K-9 teams will be required to attend one (1) of the posted days to complete their certification and will be required to meet the minimum standards set forth by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Please refer to their website (www.ptb.state.il.us) for a copy of those standards. Sign in and registration will be held at ISP District 17 - La Salle starting at 8:00 am each day.
K-9 teams will be tested on the odors of the following substances:
cocaine crack cocaine heroin cannabis methamphetamines
The certification will be conducted in three phases: vehicle search, building search, and parcel/package/luggage search. The teams will move from phase to phase and will have ample time to rest and break their dogs.
The certification will take place regardless of weather conditions. Participating teams should be prepared to work in rainy or hot conditions and are required to provide the basic equipment, i.e. collar, lead, and reward.

MTU 5’s request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
Course enrollment must be made by the agency CEO or designated training officer. Registration may be made using our on-line course registration link on this website. All officers enrolled by their department will be assumed to be on duty unless otherwise noted
