COURSE OBJECTIVE:

This course is designed to prepare the law enforcement officer for certification and licensing as a Breath Test Operator by the Illinois Department of Public Health.  This course includes:

  • History of Chemical Tests
  • Operation and Function of Equipment
  • Theory of Breath Testing Equipment
  • Physiology and Pharmacology
  • Standards – Legal Aspects/Forms
  • Metrics
  • Problem of the Drinking Driver

This course is being funded by a grant from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and through the Illinois Department of Transportation

THIS COURSE MEETS THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED MANDATED TRAINING: CONSTITUTIONAL AND PROPER USE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY, LAW UPDATE, CIVIL RIGHTS

MTU 5’s request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board

Course enrollment must be made by the agency CEO or designated training officer.  Registration may be made using our on-line course registration link on this website.  All officers enrolled by their department will be assumed to be on duty unless otherwise noted
