Course Objective:  In 2014, the Illinois Family Violence Coordinating Council was awarded the U.W. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women Grant to Encourage Arrest and Enforcement of Orders of Protection (Arrest Grant).  This project is a continuous effort to educate and enhance services provided by our community partners and to provide training that will improve practices while strengthening prosecution of cases involving domestic violence and increase victim and community safety.   It will also address current trends of human trafficking, relevant laws, tips for identification as well as common tactics used on victims by traffickers.
 
Course Content:
  • To promote consistency in the response to domestic violence calls
  • To promote a coordinated response among law enforcement, prosecution, and community agencies
  • To provide ease in updating and adapting protocols for all area law enforcement agencies
  • To ensure the safety of the victims and to hold offenders accountable
  • To understand the dynamics of human trafficking
 
MTU 5’s request for certification of this course, as well as Mandate Approval, has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standard’s Board.
